Vista is blocking pings. Nice to know? Well I always wondered why and I found out by (who would have gussed?) googling. Anyways, here is how to quit blocking incoming pings:
- Control Panel-> Administraive Tools-> Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
- Select "Inbound Rules"
- Search for "File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)"
- Right click on it and select "Enable Rule"
Note: there are two "File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)" entries. One for profile "Domain" one for "Private". For acitivating pings on the intranet. The "Private" profile one should be enough?
